Imphal, December 13 2013 :
A Sub-Inspector (SI) of Imphal Police Station has been accused of robbing Rs 40,000 from Agricultural Labours Union Manipur joint secretary L Rewankumar on the charge that the latter used an EO note with forged signature of the Chief Minister in drawing a bill for a contract work.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, L Rewankumar said that he was picked up by the police officer from Konung Lampak last morning.
He was taken to IPS lock-up and beaten up.
He was released only after taking away Rs 40,000 .
The SI also alleged that Rewankumar was the main accused in using an EO note with forged signature of the Chief Minister for drawing bill for the contract work of repairing the girls hostel of Kwakta Sericulture Training Centre.
Together with the renovation and repairing work of the girls hostel, construction work of septic tank was jointly executed by Athokpam Premjit, Chungkham Motilal and his (Rewankumar) party.
The contract work whose estimated cost Rs 21,14,961 was executed under the supervision of MANIDCO.
When the construction/repairing was almost over, MANIDCO EE Kameshore brought in some men and white washed the newly repaired rooms and claimed that the contract work was executed by his men.
This resulted in a controversy and the bill was held back.
One Krishnakumari and Sanjoy were party to the Sub Inspector's conspiracy, Rewankumar said.
Later, one Yambem Surjit of Thoubal Athokpam Awang Leikai brought an EO note of the Chief Minister written in favour of Premjit and Motilal.
The EO note (EO No 1/41-2013-CM) written on November 23 directed the Sericulture Principal Secretary and the Director to release the bill at the earliest.
Accordingly, a bill of Rs 16,43,000 was drawn within the month of November.
In the meantime, the Sub Inspector charged that CM's signature appended on the EO note was a forged one and he (Rewankumar) was the main culprit for the forgery.
In case the CM's signature was a forged one, it should be confirmed from the one who brought it, Rewankumar asserted.
He also sought immediate attention of the Chief Minister, the Home Minister and the DGP towards the charges levelled against him.
