COVID-19: Nemcha assures Rs 25 lakh for Kangpokpi, visits stranded students

Kangpokpi, April 11 2020: Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen today pledged to hand over Rs 25 lakh from her MLA Local Area Development Funds to the Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi for utilizing in combating the highly contiguous pandemic COVID-19 in her Constituency.

The Minister made the announcement during a joint meeting with all the District Level Officers of Kangpokpi in the presence of Lalithambigai Kalidas, DC Kangpokpi and Hemant Pandey, SP Kangpokpi at the Conference Hall of DC Office Kangpokpi.

The Minister, who is the local MLA of Kangpokpi Assembly Constituency and in-charge Minister of Kangpokpi and Senapati districts with regard to COVID-19, said that the amount will be immediately handed over through proper channel to the DC Kangpokpi and it shall be used only for procuring medical kits and others related only with the fight against the pandemic COVID-19 in Kangpokpi AC.

However, the Minister cautioned that the funds shall not be misused and all report with regards to utilization of the funds be submitted to her by the Deputy Commissioner.

The Minister also asked the concerned SDOs to talk with their respective ACs MLA and utilize the funds accordingly in combating the pandemic COVID-19.It may be mentioned that the Government had sanctioned Rs 25 lakh each to all the MLAs of the State through their respective local area development funds to be utilized in their respective ACs only in COVID-19 related matters.

While chairing the DLOs meet, Nemcha Kipgen strictly cautioned that the NFSA rice in all Sub-divisions of the District shall be distributed only through the respective FPS agents while the distribution shall be strictly supervised by the concerned SDO and village chief while cautioning that no village chiefs are authorized to distribute or intervene in the distribution of the rice stating that they only have to supervise the distribution.

She also asked all SDOs to submit a detail report of the distribution through a proper channel without fail.

The Minister also asked the Chief Medical Officer to identify an appropriate place to establish a quarantine centre at Kangpokpi DHQs under the supervision of the District Administration and report the same at the earliest.

She later located an Inspection Bungalow to be temporarily occupied by the Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi.

On the other hand, Nemcha Kipgen also reached out to stranded students in Kangpokpi and Senapati District as the in-charge Minister and assured that nobody will go hungry amid the lockdown.

She donated 100 bags of rice for the less fortunate people in Kangpokpi town.

The donated rice was handed over to each Ward Members of the town committee through Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi.

The Ward Members then distributed the rice to all identified less fortunate people in their respective Wards.

The Minister also provided 15 bags of rice and a bag of dal for the stranded students at Maram and Senapati District whose grievances had been put up by Senapati District Students' Association during a joint meeting at Senapati DC office chamber on April 9 .

The donated rice and dal along with other food items donated by well-wishers and shop owners operating at Senapati DHQs who were inspired by the contribution of the Minister in-charge were today distributed to the stranded students at SDSA office complex in Senapati.

More than 200 students from various places of the State and Arunachal Pradesh who were studying at different colleges and schools in Senapati District are stranded owing to the Nationwide lockdown.

On behalf of the stranded students, SDSA Caretaker, Hopeson Mao conveyed warm regards and gratitude to the Minister for her generous contribution for the welfare of the stranded students.
