Seized contraband items and unsafe food products disposed

Senapati, August 02 2017:
Contraband items and unsafe food products which were seized by the authorities from various parts Senapati district during the special drive for food safety on July 17 and 23, under the directive of Secretariat Health Department, Government of Manipur, were disposed today by the Officer of Food Safety Administration, Senapati, at old district hospital .
The items included 1069 packets of assorted tobacco products and five boxes of food products from Myanmar including food products such as Mikko, sardine tin fish, fruit juices, shrimp paste, sunflower seeds and juice powders .
The total cost of the disposed items is estimated to be around Rs 8500 .
The items were seized from different areas including Maram bazar, Maram Centre, Maram Ramlong, Lairouching, Khongnem, Mao gate, Tadubi, Vanee, Makhan and Maraproomei along National Highway number 2 .
CMO of Mao Dr H Loli, Senapati OC, S Hepuni Mao, Designated officer (FSA) Senapati, L Johnny and Food Safety staff were also present on the spot.
