Bishnupur, August 02 2017:
The students of Kwakta Government High School, under Kwakta Municipal Council, Moirang Assembly Constituencies, boycotted the class today and took out a protest rally at the area around Kwakta bazar, against the transfer of two teachers from the school which has already been facing inconveniences due to severe lack of teachers .
The school, which had only class I to IX, was upgraded to High School standard by the State Government in the year 2009-10.12 teachers were sanctioned for the school when it was still a Junior High School and after upgrading it to High School standard, the necessary number of teachers is 24, but the school has been operating all these years with nine Government sanctioned teachers and three more teachers who were engaged by the School Management Committee .
According to the students, repeated appeals have been made to the authority concerned but to no avail and the school, which has a total of 386 students and ranks 4th in Thoubal district and 2nd in Moirang AC, is facing large inconveniences due to severe lack of teachers and infrastructures .
The students condemned the transfer order of the teachers when the school is already facing acute shortage of teachers .
One of the students pointed out that the Government’s decision to transfer two teachers away from the school when the school is still reeling under immense hardship is akin to turning a blind eye to the suffering of the students and added that if the State Government fail to revoke the transfer order by August 10 and also send the remaining teachers to fill the shortage of teachers, the students of the school along with all the CSOs and students organisation of the State will launch intense agitation .
The students carried many placards containing slogans demanding proper and adequate teacher for the High School, condemning the transfer of the teachers and the policy of the Government.
