State election authority has requested the Chief Election Commission of India to depute at least 11 election observers for smooth and fair conduct of the election in the state even as state government has cancelled earned leaves of its officials who would be use as polling personnel except those on medical ground, official sources said today.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the State Coordinating Committee constituted to look into the matter relating with the smooth and successful conduct of the two phase election to the 15th Lok Sabha Election in the state was held today under the chair of the state Chief Secretary Rakesh.
Official source said that the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manipur has requested the ECI to depute at least 11 observers for having vigilant to the election process and electioneering of the political parties for conducting the election in free and fair manner.
Another source also said that considering the requirement of the polling personnel for the ensuing elections, state government has called up its officials who were on long and earned leave except those on leave on medical ground asking them to report to their posting place immediately.
The state election authority here has worked out the required civil polling personnel for the ensuing elections to the two Lok Sabha seat at 13,200 including 20 percent reserved personnel.
The meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Old Secretariat commenced from 1.30 pm and among others additional chief secretary (home), DGP, state CEO, DIPR Commissioner, ROs of Thoubal and Imphal west district, officials of the power, finance, transports, PHE departments of he Manipur government took part.
The meeting mainly discussed on theprovision of accommodations, water and power supply to the security personnel arriving in the state from outside for the poll purpose.
It also discussed on providing communication facilities like telephone connectivity and wireless communication facilities at the polling stations.
Categorization of hyper sensitive, sensitive and normal polling stations as per reports submitted by the concern DCs of all the districts in consultation with the SPs were also discussed in the meeting, the source said.
On other hand, imparting EVM training to the master trainers have been conducted by the experts of the state election department for onward training to the polling personnel at the district level.
As per scheduled of the state election department, training to the polling personnel in respect of Imphal east training will start from April 6 till April 15 at the DC office, for the Thoubal ditrcit the same will start from April 25 till April 30.
