Tree plantation drives held

Mass tree plantation drives in different parts of the State continues on account of the 71st Van Mahotsav celebration.
Imphal
Group Centre CRPF Imphal today conducted a plantation drive at Patsoi Part-1, YWC playground, Imphal West today in continuation of the mass plantation drive.
The plantation programme was attended by MLA of Patsoi Assembly Constituency, AK Mirabai; DIGP of Group Centre CRPF Langjing, Irungbam Lokendra among others.
Over 500 saplings were planted during the programme, said a statement of GC CRPF, Langjing.
MLA Mirabai praised the initiative of the CRPF to make Imphal green and beautiful by planting trees and went to say that such an initiative will go a long way in inculcating awareness among the people about the importance of environment conservation, the statement said.
The statement also quoted DIGP, I Lokendra as saying, "CRPF has always protected and conserved the environment.
We Propagate sustainable ways in all the line of duty" .
He also thanked the MLA, Gram Pradhan and people of Patsoi for the participation and encouragement, the statement said while continuing that social distancing was maintained during the programme by all attendees.
Kamjong
As part of the 71st Van Mahotsav celebration, a mass rally cum tree plantation programme was organised by Range Officer Kasom Khullen under the aegis of DFO Kamjong at Somrei and Irong village.
The programme was held on the theme "Join Hands To Make Change Today" and tree saplings were also distributed to the villagers.
DFO SW Suisa encouraged the villagers to plants more trees for a green Manipur and a better environment.
The plantation programme led by SW Suisa planted varieties of saplings including yongchak, bokul, leihao, blackberry, etc at Somrei Baptist Church campus.
A mass rally was also staged where the participants walked to Stanba High school in Irong village and different flowering and fruit bearing trees were planted alongside the road leading to the school.
The programme was attended by Kasom Khullen Range Officer Bhugeshwor Hidam, Kamjong Range Officer Prabin Ningthouja, Kasom-Somrei village headman Apam Shinglai, STANBA High school principal K Daniel, Yeasom Village Authority secretary AS Ningreii, forest officials and staff along with residents of the villages.
Kakching
The staff of Practising Junior High School, Kakching headed by its Principal Naorem Shyam planted saplings in the campus of the school as part of Van Mahotsav celebration.
Moirang
In Bishnupur district, around 200 saplings were planted at the campus of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Utlou today.
The programme was conducted by KVK, Bishnupur district Utlou under the aegis of its chairman Th Chaoba, in association with Central Industrial Security Force, Bir Tikendrajit International Airport Imphal.
The programme was attended by KVK Principal scientist and head RK Imotomba Singh, subject matter specialist (Agriculture Extension) Dr A Tarajit Singh, subject matter specialist (Agronomy) Dr Sakhen Sorokhaibam, Senior Technical Officer (Animal Science) Dr Th Nabakumar, Assistant Commandant CISF Airport Imphal Fima Shanglen and CISF Inspector along with other sepoys.
The saplings planted today consisted of fruit bearing and indigenous trees.
