Recovered man tests positive again triggering tension

Imphal, July 11 2020:
A person who was discharged after recovery has tested positive for COVID-19 today, creating a sense of unease and panic amongst the people.
Following the detection, Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai has been declared a containment zone and necessary measures have been initiated by the district administration of Imphal West.
The person who was earlier under quarantine at the quarantine centre opened at Maria Montessori School at Koirengei first tested positive on June 8 and was treated at JNIMS hospital.
Later, the person tested negative on June 19.After recovery, the person was discharged for home quarantine.

The person tested positive at RIMS lab after the swab sample was collected yesterday along with those of the inmates of the quarantine centre opened at Imphal College.
Meanwhile, the case has baffled the health authorities and questions have been raised from many quarters regarding the efficiency of the COVID test.
Following the containment zone tag, entry and exit to and from Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai have been restricted.
Meanwhile, the number of cases in the State has reached 1604 following detection of 16 new cases.
A late report from sources said 11 cases have been detected at JNIMS after a total of 684 samples were tested.
Earlier, a report from the COVID-19 Common Control Room said 11 were earlier detected in the last 24 hours.
Seven were detected at Jiribam while the remaining four were detected at RIMS.
The four cases detected at RIMS include 3 from Ukhrul and one from Imphal West.
They will be shifted to COVID Care Centres (CCCs) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, said the report.
Meanwhile, eleven persons have recovered and they have been discharged from CCCs at Meitram (1), Kamjong (2) and Ukhrul (8) .
The recovery rate now stands at 52.91 percent with 843 persons recovered so far, said the report.
On the other hand, a State Consultative Committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Biren Singh minutely discussed the rising number of cases at Jiribam district and gave nod for insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh to police personnel, doctors and nurses working in the frontline against COVID-19 .
Babina Diagnostics Centre will also begin COVID test next week.
Till today, Jiribam has 68 cases, said health officials at the meeting.
It may be noted that 20 persons were confirmed for COVID-19 at Jiribam after rapid antigen test (RAT) yesterday.
