NPO celebrates Advent Christmas

The Naga People's Organization (NPO), Senapati has organised Advent Christmas at Senapati under the theme, "Peace on Earth and goodwill towards men" at Mini Stadium, Senapati.
The programme was held to spread the message of peace, understanding, hope, joy, kindness and love all over the world.
It was also focused on the children for them to enjoy a good time as most of the school children have finished their annual examinations.
L Adani, convenor, Organizing Committee asserted that the idea of organising the Advent Christmas under the aegis of the NPO was suggested by PHED Minister, L Dikho as everyone would be going to their respective Churches, Villages and Towns on proper Christmas, which is celebrated on December 25 every year.
Saying that today celebration was conducted in an eco-friendly manner by avoiding plastic and non-degradable items, apart from installing dustbins to avoid littering, the convenor added the programme would succeed in promoting peaceful co-existence and goodwill amongst all people of the District as it brought together different communities, denominations and people from all walks of life under one roof.
Solomon Arow, president, NPO asserted that though living at the district is home to different tribes, the gathering proved that the people of the District are physically, spiritually and mentally united.
PHED Minister Losii Dikho stated that through the short gathering of the celebration the people experienced love and understanding amongst each other.
Sokho George, president, Naga Christian Forum mentioned that the body was formed in 2005.The president, while urging all to be responsible, equitable and mutually acceptable to avoid problems and chaos, prayed for a prosperous New Year, 2020.Rev Dr W Konghar, general secretary, Manipur Baptist Convention also spoke at the event.
Gift items were also exchanged between Civil Society Organization leaders of both hills and valley area including AMUCO, DESAM, CCSK, MSF, COCOMI, Sekmai Protection Committee, United Naga Council, Naga Women's Union, ANSAM, NPMHR, NPO, SDWA, SDSA, etc.
The programme was held in the presence of Chairman, ADC, Senapati, Executive Members, ADC Members, SP, Senapati, DLOs, District Frontal Organizations, village chief etc.
"Hingminnasi Eikhoi", a carol was also sung in Mao, Maram, Poumai, Nepali, Thangal, Tangkhul and Zeliangrong dialects during the program.
Advent Christmas feast for all attendants was provided in the latter part of the program.
Around 8,000 people attended the programme.
