Imphal, October 29 2014:
The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Tamenglong district (ZSUTD) Manipur has expressed concern over the poor functioning of developmental works initiated under various schemes, offices and departments of the State Government in the district.
In a statement ZSU stated that PHED, PWD, NEC, MDS, PHC, PHSC, CHC, District hospital and District Social Welfare have failed to pay heed to the public outcry despite repeated appeals.
The canal on the dam, which is the main source of potable water supply, to the locals have been polluted due to the road expansion undertaken by NEC in the surrounding area of the dam.
The EE of NEC was requested repeatedly regarding the matter but nothing has been done so far, the statement said.
Condemning the transferring and posting of several teachers and headmasters in August this year without any immediate provision, the statement urged the State Government to upgrade Nungba High School, Tamenglong Junior High School and Langmei High School to Higher Secondary School levels.
In a separate statement issued by the Zeliangrong Youth Front (AMN), general secretary of ZYF (AMN) while lauding the State Government's decision to depute adequate medical doctors including specialists in the hill districts of the State asserted that transfers of adequate medical doctors in the districts have failed to yield positive results with no availability of the transferred doctors in their place of posting such as the hospital, PHC and PHSC.
The statement alleged that the State Government has miserably failed to give meaning and substance to the transfer and posting orders.
Drawing the need of proper functioning of the District Hospitals, PHCs and PHSCs in the hill districts, ZYF urged the State Government to provide necessary equipment and infrastructure in all the District Hospitals, PHCs and PHSCs.
