Kabow Leikai eviction: Fasting prayer on May 26 followed by rally, meeting

In the backdrop of the alleged forced eviction of Kabow Leikai, a fasting prayer would be organised on Sunday (May 26) in respective Church which would be followed by a peace rally and public meeting on May 27 .
This was decided during an emergency meeting of leaders including pastors, youth and women of the neighbouring localities of Kabo Leikai and Langol Range, Imphal held at MBC campus on May 22 .
According to a statement issued by Aram Pamei, the meeting also resolved to collect offerings in Churches as per their convenience and the same be submitted to the finance committee of JAC on Kabo Leikai Arbitrary Eviction as relief fund for the victims.
While agreeing to raise voice against the alleged injustice, the meeting also resolved to constitute a team of volunteer to study the root causes of the problem and conflict and suggest means to address them.
The meeting also agreed in principle to entrust AMCO to organise larger public meeting on political education.
The JAC was also expanded during the meeting, the statement said.
It was also highlighted during the emergency meeting that three Churches namely Tangkhul Baptist Church, Naga River Baptist Church and Gorkha Baptist Church, were evicted while a Mahadeva shrine in the locality was spared on May 20 .
81 delegates representing 28 localities in and around the area took part in the meeting, it added.
The meeting also appreciated the solidarity shown to the victims of Kabow Leikai land eviction by representatives of Lei-Ingkhol, Mantripukhri and Yaipha Leikai who also shared 5 kg of sugar to the victims.
