1st Eklavya School in State opens

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today inaugurated the first ever Eklavya Model Residential School in the state at Gamnom, Sapermeina in Sadar Hills.
He further said that the school will have students from Class VI to XII.
But in the first year, there will be only Class-VI and every year one class will be added.
Appealing to the people to render utmost support in running this School dedicated to the tribal people, Gaikhangam maintained that both the state and Central Governments are making efforts to provide good education to the poor tribal of the state to make them good citizens of the country.
Admitting that the Government is unable to implement various schemes, policies and programmes due to lack of cooperation from the people, the Deputy Chief Minister said it has become very difficult to start various schemes in several places of the state owing to land disputes.
The inaugural function was also attended by Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, RD Minister Francis Ngajokpa, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip, Parliamentary Secretary Victor Keishing, MLA Manga Vaiphei, MLA Nemcha Kipgen and officials of TD&Hills Department.
