Residents of Chakpikarong Block in Chandel district seek Govt attention

Failure of the State Government and concerned authority to parcel out ration cards for subsidised rice has avoided many families of Chakpikarong area, Chakpikarong Block, Chandel District from getting the benefit of National Food Security Act (NFSA).
A meeting convened by the 1565 priority households, who have not received ration cards of NFSA at Chakpikarong Khunpi Village, Chandel was participated by Chakpikarong Block Anal Naga Chief Association, president, St Thumwar; social worker, Bd Betha and Chief of Chakpikarong Village, Ws Molun as the dignitaries.
At the meeting, one widow from Chakpikarong said that many poor populace of the 18 villages of Chakpikarong Block submitted necessary documents to the concerned SDO and DC to avail the benefit of NSFA in 2017, however, the ration card that is required to get the subsidised rice is yet to receive.
Appealing the State Government and concerned authority to address the plight of the villagers, who are mostly daily wage earners, at the earliest, she cautioned that all the 1565 families will launch stringent agitation if they fail to pay heed to the demand.
