Bishnupur, January 12 2020:
Days after Meira Paibis of Moirang Khoiru Leikai resolved to boycott the local MLA for not repairing Mayai Lambi road, BJP Booth Level Committee Ward No 10 27/13 Youth secretary has urged them to withdraw their call today.
Speaking to media persons at the Leikai, youth secretary M Deepak claimed that the committee and MLA P Sharatchandra had earlier deliberated many issues including the condition of the dilapidated Mayai Lambi road.
He claimed that the meeting had decided to take up the reconstruction/renovation work of the road after the rains were over.
When they were waiting for a favourable condition to begin the work, few Meira Paibis, without consulting the elders of the Leikai, had dug up the road and blocked passage of all vehicles.
The incident and the boycott call have maligned the image of the MLA and Khoiru Leikai BJP Mahila Morcha and BJP Booth Level Committee take this seriously, he said.
It may be noted that the locals including Meira Paibis of the Leikai had accused the MLA of not responding to their pleas in time and they had dug up the road in protest on January 3.Following the incident, ex-MLA M Prithviraj had provided loads of shingles to level the road and make it motorable.
The Meira Paibis had then warned to boycott the MLA if he fails to initiate the road reconstruction works at the earliest.
Urging the Meira Paibis to withdraw their boycott call during the press meet today, M Deepak said that efforts are on to repair the road 'at the earliest.' He also lauded the MLA for installing new pipelines and providing drinking water in the area.
BJP Booth Level Committee Ward No 10 27/13 Youth president O Yaima, executive members - Ph Khaba, K Tombi, H Manihar, BJP Booth Level Mahila Morcha's K Memton, S Mikoi and RK Medha and other were present at the press meet.
