JNIMS student secures top position in 2nd Professional MBBS Examination 2017

A student of JNIMS has secured the top position in the 2nd Professional MBBS Examination 2017 .
Speaking to media persons, JNIMS Director, L Deben Singh said that the institute is highly elated with one of its students, Mayanglambam Sushmita, securing the top position in the examination.
A total of 170 male and female students from both RIMS and JNIMS appeared in the examination which was held in January and with the result being declared in March he said adding that a total of 146 students passed the examination bringing the pass percentage to 85.88 percent.
Mayanglambam Sushmita secured the top position in the examination along with securing honours in pathology, microbiology and forensic medicine.
Another JNIMS student, Thongam Loijinganbi Chanu secured the 5th position with honours in pharmacology.
He pointed out that the students have shown the mantle and capabilities of the institute and its teachers and staffs although it was established not too long ago.
Deben further appreciated the efforts of the pathology, microbiology and forensic science's staff of JNIMS for their hard work.
He said, "The Ministry of Health approved 19 MD/MS seats including clinical subject and community medicine recently through an official letter under Secretary, Government of India, DVK Rao" .
The 19 seats comprises of 4 MS (general surgery) seats, 4 MD (community medicine) seats, 2 MS (OBG) SEATS, 4 MD (general medicine) seats and 5 MD anaesthesia seats, he said adding that they will discuss with the Government on how to incorporate the seats as they now have the Letter of Permit (LOP) .
50 percent of the seats will be reserved for the Centre and the remaining 50 percent will be for the State.
Deben also appealed to the patients and the people coming to JNIMS to refrain from littering the compound and the complex with plastic wastes and garbage.
He further stated that the institute along with the student association of JNIMS is planning an awareness programme along with directing the nurses, doctors, technicians etc to keep the hospital clean.
