MU standoff : MUTA resolves to approach Visitor

The Manipur University Teachers' Association (MUTA) held an emergency executive council meeting today and resolved to approach the office of the Visitor (President of India) once gain to institute an independent high level commission of enquiry to look into the alleged financial and administrative irregularities committed by Prof AP Pandey as the Vice Chancellor of Manipur University.
Members present at the meeting resolved to approach the office of the Visitor once again to dismiss VC Prof AP pandey in right earnest in order to restore normalcy in Manipur University.
The meeting deliberated on latest developments including locking of departments by students, non-payment of salaries to Contract and Casual employees since May, non-availability of Form 16 for income tax purposes and the inconveniences being faced by hostellers of the 10 hostels regarding their mess.
According to a press release issued by MUTA president Prof I Tomba, the meeting resolved that the delays in responding to the crisis by the State Government and the Union Government be condemned and should be held accountable for the academic loss to the students in Manipur University and the institutions affiliated to the university.
It also condemned non-payment of salaries to low-salaried Contract and Casual employees since May as unpardonable.
