Fear of revisit of Japanese Encephalitis in the state surfaced with at least eight patients found developing syndromes of the dreaded disease were admitted at RIMS
Hospital.
To confirm the disease blood sample of the patients have been sent to JN Hospital where facilities for blood testing for Japanese Encephalitis was recently installed, state malaria officer, Dr H Nimaichand said today.
Facilities of testing bloods to confirm other mosquito borne diseases are now available with RIMS Hospital, JN Hospital, Churachandpur District Hospital and Tamenglong District Hospital.
With the facilities available in the state, inconvenience in getting result to confirm the kind of disease suffer by a patient related with mosquito bite, the doctor said.
He also said that the facility for the testing Japanese Encephalitis will also be made available in other hospitals at the earliest.
Authority has started taking up steps provide in some selected government hospitals.
Spreading of malaria disease has been detected in some part of valley areas of the state.
Last year the disease was found spreading at Toathong area of Imphal west district.
Fifteen persons were infected by the disease.
They were cured with the early detection.
Further spread of the disease was also checked by timely measured taken by the state malaria society, Chandramani claimed.
Now, reports of spreading the disease at Nambol area coming in and the society will conduct a survey within the next few days, he said.
Observing that mosquito borne diseases like malaria were spread commonly during the month from June to August of each year, he said the society is conducting awareness programme information, communication and education (ICE) with the objective of giving awareness on how the disease spread to the human being.
Stressing the need for cooperation from other government department, Chandramani said that the long abandoned pitch dug for Sewerage project under taken by the PWD in Imphal areas has become a favourable egg hatching ground of mosquitoes.
Water reservoirs of the PHED at different places also need to be covered properly.
Fishery department also need to supply fishes consuming eggs of mosquitoes.
Likewise, forest and sericulture department also need to cooperate with the State Malaria Control Society, he went on to observed.
