Imphal East commandos arrested one alleged active member of banned outfit KCP Noyon identified as Khumujam Romen (32) of Mayang Imphal Konchak Maning Leikai, who is also said to be the president of AIMS (Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup), with one .32 pistol and seven live rounds yesterday evening from Kyamgei Maning Leikai, said sources.
Acting on specific information about the presence of some active members of a banned underground outfit at Kiyamgei Maning Leikai, a team of commando personnel led by Officer-in-Charge of Imphal East Inspector Kh Henery rushed to the spot and carried out cordon and search operation and detained Khumujam Romen for verification near Pioneer Club.
On carrying out body search, the personnel allegedly found one .32 pistol concealed at his waistline along with a magazine loaded with seven live rounds of bullets.
The commando personnel also recovered three mobile phones, one hard disk, one laptop and one pen drive from him.
Romen was arrested on the spot and during examination, he allegedly revealed that he is an active member of KCP Noyon and was working under the command of self style chairman Noyon of KCP Noyon group.
He further revealed that on December 20, he along with some of his associates had fired two live rounds at the fish farm of one Prem of Mayang Imphal located at Thana Maning Khunou.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam SP Imphal East and M Roni Additional SP Ops.
