Governor leads in extending Christmas greetings

Governor Dr Najma Heptulla, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and several leaders and political parties have extended their greetings on the occasion of Christmas.
Dr Najma in her message greeted the people and wished, "Merry Christmas to all the people, especially our Christian brothers and sisters in the State.
This is a time to be with family and friends, a time for peace and piety.
May Christmas bring hope and happiness to our State.
We remember the noble teachings of Jesus Christ and recall his efforts towards creating a compassionate and equal society.
I wish the Christmas to be celebrated by all in its true form and spirit" .
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the day reminds people of the birth of Jesus Christ who personified love and forgiveness.
"I join the people of Manipur in celebrating Christmas.
This day reminds us of the birth of Lord Jesus Christ who personified love and forgiveness.
As we celebrate this Holy festival, we must emulate Christ eternal message of peace, tolerance, sacrifice, love and forgiveness by opening our hearts and extending out hands to everyone.
Let us also strengthen the spirit of humanity and brotherhood among all communities living together in the State.
As we rejoice in the festivities, we must not forget to follow precautionary norms to protect ourselves from COVID-19," said the Chief Minister.
Speaker Manipur Legislative Assembly Y Khemchand Singh, Education Minister S Rajen Singh, CAF&PD Minister Th Satyabrata Singh, Social Welfare Minister O Henry, Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh, YAS Minister Letpao Haokip, Tribal Affairs Minister Vungzagin Valte, Chairman Hill Areas Committee, K Leishiyo and Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh also sent their wishes for the people on Christmas and prayed for peace and harmony.
Several political parties including Communist Party of India, Congress (Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee), NEIDP (North East India Development Party) also greeted people on the occasion.
Meetei Christian Churches Council, Manipur, United Front Manipur, National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) and All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) also sent their best wishes to the people on Christmas.
Christmas is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Jesus by the Christian community worldwide.
It is an occasion to spread the message of love, peace and compassion beyond boundaries and religious affinities as the life of Jesus Christ taught us.
May this Christmas -festival renew our commitment to work together in harmony and instill the spirit of brotherhood between different communities and usher in peace, love and amity throughout the State, said ATSUM.
