Imphal, October 12:
Alleging that the Central and state Government have been conniving to impose their vested anti-people objective rather than act in accordance with recommendations of an expert committee, Action Committee Against Tipaimukh Project(Actip) cautioned that it would not tolerate attempt to ignore voices of the concerned citizens.
The recommendations and observations submitted to the Prime Minister's Office by the Central electricity Authority (CEA) and Public Investment Board (PIB) suggested reduction of sharing percentage of manipur (11 percent) and Mizoram (1 PC) out of the electric power to be generated from the Tipaimukh Dam so that the project become economically viable, contended an Actip release.
While insisting that the CEA-PIB recommendations be made available for public scrutiny to clear misconception, if any, Actip also demanded that the State Government make its position clear taking into account general sentiment of the public, especially those who would be severely affected in case the project takes shape.
The government should ensure active participation of all section of the society in defining and achieving the common goal of development, expressed the Committee.
