Many condemn killing of HSO president

Kangpokpi, June 24 2017:
The assassination of Haokip Students' Organization’s (HSO) president yesterday evening at Langol has drawn strong condemnations from many civil society organizations .
Kuki Students' Organization, Sadar Hills held a candle light vigil and condolence service near Brig Thomas Ground at around 5 pm today and strongly condemned the killing of the student leader, Palal Haokip, by three unknown armed men .
The candle light vigil and condolence of Late Haokip, president HSO was attended by Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi district and various civil society organizations where Rev Y Haokip attended as the condolence minister .
A giant banner was put up alongside the road while volunteers of KSO Sadar Hills lit candles around the banner to mark the condolence and discontentment over the killing of the HSO president apart from offering tribute to the departed leader .
Speaking at the solemn ceremony, Seikhomang Khongsai, president Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi condemned the murder in the strongest term and questioned the security of the people .
He also said that as the apex body of the Kukis, Kuki Inpi appeal asked the perpetrators to spell out their identity openly along with the reason for the condemnable act in the interest of the Kuki community at the earliest .
The Inpi president also extended heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family while sharing their pain and grief .
Meanwhile, KSO Sadar Hills president while addressing the mourners termed the brutal killing of the HSO president as very unfortunate and conveyed his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family .
He also said that apart from various student organizations, the KSO Sadar Hills also share the pain and grief of the family .
While speaking to media persons after the condolence service, KSO Sadar Hills president, Thangminlen Kipgen said that the student body strongly condemns the killing of Palal Haokip and asserted that until the culprits involved in the gruesome murder are nabbed and justice delivered, the mortal remains of the slain student leader will not be claimed .
The student body also gave a 48 hour deadline to the Government to nab the culprits and warned that extreme agitation will be resorted to if the demand is not met during the stipulated time .
Similar candle light vigil and condolence was held at Saikul Hill Town under the aegis of KSO Saikul Block from 3 pm to 5.30 pm while strongly condemning the incident .
Many leaders of civil society organisations addressed the mourners at the condolence ceremony demanding justice to the victim and the bereaved family .
Meanwhile, Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi and other CSOs of Kangpokpi district jointly condemned the assassination of the student leader .
