AAI to donate Rs 4.94 Cr to JNIMS

Under Corporate Social Responsi-bility (CSR), Airport Authority of India (AAI) would donate Rs 4.94 crore to JNIMS for purchasing equipment/instruments.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between the State Government and AAI at the Chief Minister's Secretariat this afternoon in front of Chief Minister N Biren.
Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, Principal Secretary (Health) Vumlunmang, Principal Secretary (Finance) Rakesh Ranjan, Secretary to CM N Geoffrey, JNIMS Director Dr Bhimo, JNIMS Medical Superintendent Dr N Jitendra, AAI Regional Executive Director Sanjiv Jindal, Imphal International Airport Director Senthil Valavan and Imphal International Airport Deputy General Manager SS Raju were also present when the MoA was signed.
According to rules, 2 per cent of the total profit earned from different projects undertaken by public sector undertaking companies should be invested in social sector under CSR.
In accordance to these rules, AAI would invest 2 per cent of their total profits in JNIMS.
The MoA signed that pledged that AAI would invest Rs 4.94 crore in JNIMS.
It is said that 30 per cent of the total amount would be released shortly.
Sources informed that the amount promised by AAI would be utilised in purchasing Defibrillators, Multipurpose Monitors, operation theatre tables, electrolyte analysers, Ultrasound Machine, Fowler and Semi-Fowler Beds, ventilators, Laparoscopic set, Manifold room and Gas Pipelines, Plaster tables, Orthopedic beds, spine boards, infusion pumps etc.
Most of these equipment/instruments would be installed inside JNIMS hospital's Accident and Trauma Centre, said the sources.
Speaking at the gathering, Chief Minister N Biren said that Imphal would host a CSR conclave on September 6 where around 70 different firms/companies are expected.
He stated that the State Government has been expecting a number of commitments from the firms/companies which would attend the conclave.
Noting that AAI had earlier donated one ambulance to the State Health Department and one more has been sanctioned apart from Rs 4.94 crore promised today, the Chief Minister conveyed gratitude to AAI.
