Anganwadi workers of Churachandpur today alleged erroneous supply of rice in the past two years claiming they had only receive the quarterly allocation once that too with a 50 percent deficit.
The Churachandpur Anganwadi Mahila Organisation (CAMO) has slapped the allegation today on the sidelines of their meeting at Hmar Veng, wherein they held a thorough discussion on the matter and pledged to fight any attempt to sway them or the items that were meant to reach the intended beneficiaries.
'For the past years we were taken for granted by officials of the department but we will fight our cause and not merely shy away.
That is the decision we have taken, and we will be true to our words,' said Veineilhing, President CAMO.
Detailing their allegation of swindling, the President of CAMO who heads over 2000 Anganwadi workers from the district said they were to receive 10 bags of rice quarterly in a year but instead of receiving 40 bags for 2012, they were only given 5 bags, half of one quarterly allocation.
Similarly, for 2013 they have so far received only 5bags.She said the organization has taken the matter to the concern Minister and will decide on their course of action depending upon the action or inaction of the government.
Anganwadi workers across the state have been continually protesting non-payment of remuneration as well as other items intended to reach them.
