Imphal, June 21 2016:
Zeliangrong Youth Front (AMN) has announced an indefinite total bandh along NH-53 from midnight of June 23 demanding the arrest of the culprits involved in vandalising the residences of Namthanjang village chief and the village secretary.
Speaking to reporters today at its office located at Ragailong, president of ZYF (AMN) Titus Kamei said the total bandh will be enforced until the arrest of the culprits.
The ZYF had submitted an ultimatum to the Govt on June 18 in this connection.
As no response has been received by the front, the bandh will be enforced from midnight of June 23, Titus said.
Dismissing the allegation against ZYF by one Gaichalung who said that he was abducted by members of ZYF from near the office of The Sangai Express as false, Titus said it was very unfortunate that Gaichalung made such an unfounded allegation against the members of ZYF.
Titus said that Gaichalung was handed over to Sapermeina PS after he met near the office of The Sangai Express on June 19.He said Gaichalung was among those involved in dismantling the houses of Namthanjang village chief and secretary.
He uttered no words when he was handed over to Sapermeina PS although he claimed that he was abducted after he came out from the PS, Titus said.
At the same time, Khullakpa of Namthanjang has lodged a complaint with the police regarding the vandalism on June 17.He named 22 persons as involved in the act of vandalism.
