Imphal, December 19 2016:
Taking serious note of the immense suffering faced by the people on account of the economic blockade imposed by the UNC at "the behest of the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India," the Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) said that it is ready to take up stern action against the UNC in the interest of the people of Manipur if the economic blockade is not lifted before Christmas.
In a statement issued to the media today, MNPF also condemned the burning down of numerous Ukhrul bound vehicles at Khurai on the Imphal-Ukhrul road and the act of destroying the goods of the passengers including Christmas dresses.
Laying the blame squarely at the feet of NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah, MNPF said that the NSCN (IM) has no clear objective and added that this is the reason why it has been shifting from sovereignty to supra State, to alternative arrangement, Pan Naga etc.
Ninety percent of the Naga people, particularly the Tangkhuls, loathe the NSCN (IM), claimed MNPF.
Th Muivah is a master at stoking communal tension, alleged MNPF and recalled how such a policy led to the death of more than 100 Tangkhuls in Eastern Nagaland in 1998 .
Even today, Tangkhuls are not ready to venture to Eastern Nagaland because of the policies of Th Muivah, it alleged.
MNPF further said that from 1991 to 1994 more than 900 Kukis were killed due to the machinations of Th Muivah and in 1997 more than 60 Tangkhuls were killed in Nagaland.
It is to boost his own agenda the Muivah has created the present situation to sow seeds of divide amongst the different communities, alleged MNPF .
Since Somdal village, the native place of Th Muivah will not be affected in the event of a communal clash in Manipur, he is trying to create such a situation which can lead to a communal clash, alleged MNPF and added that this is being done to strengthen the NSCN (IM) .
Stating that the MNPF has started taking up steps to lead the Nagas to the right path, the outfit claimed that it was in line with this that the office of the TNL, office of Manipur unit of NPF were bombed.
Likewise bombs were exploded near the residences of some people from Somdal village at Fairyland and Nagaram, it added.
It would be in the fitness of things for the voluntary organisations of the valley area to correct each other, added the outfit.
