TKS condoles death of Wungmareo Shaiza

The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has deeply condoled the demise of Wungmareo Shaiza (Retd IAS).
Wungmareo Shaiza, the first IAS cadre among the Nagas, served the Tangkhul student community in various capacities and his relentless services will ever be cherished by the students in generations to come, said a release issued by TKS president Yangmi Kapai.
Recalling the works of Wungmareo Shaiza, the release said, "With the outbreak of World War - II, the Tangkhul Students Conference (TSC) was inactive for about four years and during this critical time the student body was blessed with Wungmareo Shaiza, who shouldered the responsibility of reorganising TSC".
It is because of the hard work of Wungmareo Shaiza that TKS has come so far and therefore he deserves befitting credit for what he had done for the welfare of student community during his life time, it claimed.
The Tangkhul Hoho Nagaland (THN) has also expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Wungmareo Shaiza, IAS Retd in the morning of January 18, 2012 at his residence in Imphal after a prolonged illness at the age of 92. In his death, the Tangkhul community and the Nagas in general, have lost a great son which will be difficult to fill the vacuum for years to come, President of THN NA Kasar said in a statement and prayed to Almighty God to grant solace to the bereaved family members and may the departed souls rest in peace.
It may be recalled here that Wungmareo Shaiza was one of the senior most bureaucrats amongst the Tangkhul community.
After obtaining his MA LL.B Degrees from Calcutta University, he was sent to London by late Jawahalal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India to study Master in Public Administration in the early 1950s and after successful completion, he returned from London to India and served in various senior positions and finally retired as Chief Secretary of national capital territory of Delhi, the first Naga to attain such a prestigious position.
Even after his retirement as CS, Delhi, his services were utilized in various government affairs including one of the Board of Members of UPSC and a life member of the YMCA, etc.
