Bag snatcher caught, remanded

Swift action by a team of Imphal PS, led by Inspector N Ingocha (OC), led to the arrest of a 26 year old bag snatcher, along with the recovery of a Royal Enfield motorcycle which was allegedly used in the crime.
Video clippings of the bag snatching incident went viral on the social media yesterday.
The accused, identified as one Khuraijam Arooba (26) s/o Kh Ibotombi of Sagolband Ingudam Leirak, was arrested early today morning.
According to a reliable source, a complaint was lodged at Imphal PS by a lady claiming that yesterday, at around 10 am, a youth, riding a Royal Enfield motorcycle, snatched her bag containing some gold ornaments and money at Keishamthong Top Leirak Machin.
Following the complaint, police swung into action and were able to identify the culprit using footages from the CCTV camera installed near the incident site.
Informing that police arrested the culprit today morning from his residence, the source mentioned that police also recovered the motorcycle used in the crime, four mobile phones and other items from his house as well.
The source conveyed that the culprit is under investigation for possible involvement in other similar bag snatching cases and added that he was produced before the Duty Magistrate along with a prayer for 8 days police custody remand.
