United Ching Tam meet stresses on unity

The Irabot Celebration Committee (ICC) Manipur organised the 73rd anniversary of United Ching Tam meet today at Manipur Press Club.
Dr M Nara, chairman of ICC, L Sotinkumar, secretary CPI Manipur State Council (MSC), Athokpam Lala, secretariat member CPI MSC and social scientist Dhanabir Laishram attended the programme as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme Dr Nara said, the United Ching Tam meet held at Manipur Dramatic Union on November 30, 1947 under the leadership of Hijam Irabot was a landmark event in the history of Manipur and it is becoming more relevant in today's Manipur.
He added that the meet at MDU has played a key role in strengthening Manipur as a Nation and in imparting a sense of Nationalism amongst the people.
Manipuris have always wanted to preserve the territorial integrity of the State and have defended it with blood whenever it was challenged.
Dr Nara added that it was important to remember the geopolitical background narrative and the challenges faced by leaders of Manipur at the time of this historic event in order to strengthen the bond between communities of Manipur to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur.
L Sotinkumar also said that the various communities of Manipur had lived as brothers during that time and it was necessary to re-establish and strengthen that bond.
