Teams of Imphal West district police commandos have apprehended three activists of the NSCN (IM) and PREPAK organisations from different places yesterday.
In the first instance, the NSCN (IM) activist identified as Panmei John alias Lanmei (34) s/o Kadiningba Panmei of Lukhambi (II), Noney was arrested from Sangaiprou area near FCS/FCI Department at around 11.30 am, informed a statement of the SP (IW) L Kailun.
Apart from the individual reportedly disclosing of joining the NSCN (IM) in October 2005 through one Akham Desuan, the commandos recovered one Chinese-made MPEG-4 TV mobile with Aircel sim card (9856908196) and a fake identity card of Medical department, the statement added.
John was assigned to collect money from different department and general public under the command of Akham.
The same day at around 8.45 pm, two PREPAK activists were hauled up from Uripok Bachaspati Leikai and their identities established as Gurumayum Bishe alias Kishan sharma (30) s/o (L) G Shamu Sharma of Singjamei Wangma Khongman Manjil and Lourembam Kulla alias Kulladhaja (36) s/o L Homendro of Uripok Bachaspati Leikai.
One 9 mm pistol (No.71019) with magazine and four live rounds has been recovered from the possession of G Bishe.
After joining the PREPAK organisation last month, both were assigned to extort money from the general public and also demand huge amount from goldsmiths, timber traders and shopkeepers of Singjamei Super Market areas, the SP's statement detailed.
The duo's plan as directed by senior PREPAK members Bikramjit and Daku Singh also included extorting money from the PDA Secretary Brojen Singh of Soibam Leikai, it added.
