Imphal, January 23:
Reacting to the statement issued by the member secretary of All Bishnupur District Zilla Parishad, Pradhan, Upa-Pradhan and Gram Panchayat Members' Joint Action Co-ordinating Committee L Ibopishak through the media on January 17 alleging mismanagement and irregularities of the district administration, Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur District Aleng Shimray has categorically stated that the allegations are baseless, unfounded and concocted.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at his office chamber this afternoon, Shimray said the false and malicious charges of depositing the fund allocation from the Centre and the State Plan for taking up developmental activities of the district in the bank and living on the interest accrued is really unfortunate.
There is no instance of interference by the DC in the fund sanctioned through DRDA nor has no power to do so.
Moreover, the amount of the fund provided to the beneficiaries under SGRY scheme was in accordance to the reports submitted to the administrative committee of the Gram Panchayat, Zilla Parishad and Adhyaksha concerned.
The distribution of TV sets was also done in accordance to the recommendation of the SDOs concerned.
So, he as the Deputy Commissioner of the District has nothing to so in this, Shimray explained.
On the issue related to development of Loukoipat, the Deputy Commissioner informed that Rs 5 lakhs had been already sanctioned for erecting fencing around the Loukoipat area after much lobbying with the authorities concerned.
However, the amount has not yet been released to the district administration.
On the other hand, a project proposal of Rs 6.72 lakhs had already been submitted to the authorities concerned for development of the Indian Peace Memorial at Lokpa Ching.
So the allegation of contract work in this regard is totally hogwash, the Deputy Commissioner said.
On SSA, the Deputy Commissioner further clarified that former ZEO, Bishnupur has been suspended after he himself filed a case in connection with misusing the State share of the fund released for implementation of the scheme.
Furthermore, the DC clarified that he has no connection whatsoever with selling of the SEGP forms.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Loukoipat Ecological Management Committee presided over by its vice chairman Kh Pulinkanta Singh was held yesterday at Loukoipat.
Reviewing the committee's previous Resolution, the meeting condemned the statement of the member secretary of All Pradhan Bishnupur district that appeared in some section of the media alleging that DC Bishnupur allotted contract work for the Loukoipat Ecological Park work order, said Committee vice chairman in a statement.
While clarifying that no contract work had been allotted in connection with developmental work of the park, the meeting also reaffirmed the Resolution No 5 of a committee meeting held last December, to the effect of entrusting DRDA Bishnupur to undertake all the related works.
