Rare bird rescued

Besides taking a beautiful and rather rare bird into its possession, People for Animal (PFA) Thoubal is currently nursing the bird.
According to a PFA statement, Wangkhem Borajao Meitei informed PFA late Aug 14 afternoon over the spotting of a beautiful unseen bird with a size of a dove that was found at Kairang.
The informer also added that the bird was weak and salivating.
Immediately a rescue team of PFA rushed to Kairang to secure the possession of the bird amidst a number of security checks and frisking.
Wangkhem Borajao Meitei who rescued the rare bird, told PFA that the bird was found soaked hiding under some grass at the side of a drain.
Water and blood like liquid run down from its beak, he added.
PFA quickly took up necessary first aid and move for Thoubal.
The bird was never seen by PFA before.
Its photo has been sent yesterday itself to the experts for identification.
When disturbed the bird enlarges its breast and open its wing.
It was a beautiful sight.
PFA supposes that the bird might belong to a family of Snipe.
It is now under treatment at PFA Thoubal transit shelter.
Except for few over smart police personnel, all the officers and personnel of Manipur Police heartily extended cooperation to the PFA team during the rescue mission, the PFA statement said while also expressing gratitude to the police personnel.
