Couple held for illicit affairs

A married man and a divorcee, having five sons, have been pulled up by volunteers of Democratic Students' alliance of Manipur (DESAM) after both were found in objectionable manner inside a hotel room located in Paona Bazar.
While the man accused of having illicit relationship is a non-local and has two children the woman in question belongs to the majority community and mother of five children.
According to DESAM president Wangmayum Islauddin, the man (45) hailing from Assam's Golaghat district works a laundryman in IGAR (S) camp, Mantripukhri while the lady is from Pangei Makha Leikai.
DESAM volunteers reportedly raided Hotel Embassy, Paona bazar based on information about the hotel rooms frequently rented for immoral activities.
Asserting that similar drives would be carried out in the coming days, Islauddin asked the hotel owner identified as Pukhrambam Santakumar of Uripok to explain within two days why he allowed immoral activities in his hotel failing which the said hotel would have to remain
shut permanently.
DESAM general secretary A Thoithoi was also present at the media briefing held this evening at its Keishampat office.
