Imphal, December 10 2021:
Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency (AC) MLA, Khumukcham Joykisan has stated that many of major roads within his Assembly segment has been lying in dilapidated conditions owing to the "Imphal Sewerage Project" .
Joykisan made the statement as chief guest of the inaugural ceremony of Kangjabi Leirak Multipurpose community hall held today.
He lamented that major roads in Thangmeiband AC like Watham Leirak and Kangjabi Leirak have been rendered testing sites for the Imphal Sewerage Project and as such the roads have been lying in shabby condition.
Watham Leirak was well constructed before parts of the road were excavated on account of unfinished work under the said project, he said.
He further said that he had made every effort to keep almost every street and roads in best condition but his efforts have been wasted many times as these roads have been treated as testing sites of the project.
Nonetheless, all roads will be reconstructed at his best level even as the Imphal Sewerage Project is still incomplete, he affirmed.
He also spoke highly of youth clubs under Thangmeiband AC at the occasion.
He said the youth clubs in the Assembly segment are among the hard working and active clubs in the entire State.
The works undertaken by these clubs have been evident and undoubtedly impacting every sphere, be it in ensuring stability or in extending helping hands while undertaking developmental works, he said.
He also took a fresh example of the community hall which was inaugurated today and noted that the Kangjabi Youth Club has done a tremendous amount of work in constructing the hall.
Community halls of such a quality will be hard to find anywhere else, he added.
Even as the hall is yet to be fully constructed, he will ensure the construction is complete before the Assembly Election.
He is also hoping to add gym and library facilities on the upper floor of the hall, he said while adding that he will take onus of constructing the whole of the first floor if he is elected as the representative of the Assembly segment again in the upcoming election.
Assuring to continue developmental works in the Assembly segment, Joykisan also asserted that Kangjabi Leirak will be metalled using machines at the earliest.
The function was attended by Kangjabi Youth Club president, Sapam Suvangkar, founder members of the club, functionaries and senior citizens as presidium members.
