Imphal, April 27 2021:
Gamphajol village in Chandel district is in a pitiable state with lack of proper infrastructures in terms of education, health sectors and deplorable condition of roads.
Chief of the village, Mangjangam Haokip narrated about the ordeal faced by the villagers since the past many years due to lack of development during a press meet held at Gamphajol today.
He stated that there is no proper supply of drinking water since 1960s and no supply of electricity as well though the village was lighted for a month two years ago during Christmas.
In terms of medical facilities, the villagers face major problem in times of need since there is no health centres in the village and the villagers are forced to go to far off places for treatments, he added.
Therefore he urged the Government to establish a primary health centre or sub centre in the village at the earliest considering the problems faced by the villagers.

He further stated that there is no scope for higher education in the village since there is only one primary school in the village and the students are facing a lot of problems trying to pursue for higher degrees.
Elaborating about the deplorable condition of the roads in the village, he said that no initiative was taken by the previous Governments to repair the roads or start the process of black topping.
Though the process of black topping has started from Songjang till Gamphajol village by the present Government he expressed concern that the black topping is very thin and there is no proper drainage system which may pose hindrance while commuting during the rainy season.
Therefore he appealed to the Chief Minister to address the grievances of the villagers and look into the condition of the village at the earliest in the interest of the villagers who have been suffering since the past many years due to lack of development.
