Court orders remand of accused

Imphal, April 27 2021:
The Special Judge POCSO, Imphal West remanded one Huidrom Sanjoy (25) to judicial custody remand till May 11 allegedly for sexually assaulting a girl on April 16 after kidnapping her.
Huidrom Sanjoy, son of Tunal of Upokpi Mamang Leikai was arrested in connection with the case on April 18 after he surrendered and was remanded to police custody till today.
After the completion of the police custody period, the accused was produced before the Court along with the prayer for judicial remand for smooth investigation.
IO of the case through the APP submitted that a case was registered against the accused at Singjamei police station based on the complaint lodged by the father of the victim on April 16 .
In the complaint, the victim's father had stated that his daughter was kidnapped at around 8 pm from near his house by unknown persons coming in a car, the IO submitted while adding that the father had also expressed suspicion that the accused/s may have used chloroform to render his daughter unconscious before taking her away.
The IO further submitted that her father along with his family members searched for his daugher but she could not be traced.
One unknown person however knocked on their gate at around 11.30 the same night and upon checking the victim was found in a semi-unconscious state, the IO continued.
The complainant (victim's father) had also revealed in the complaint that the victim, after receiving first aid, had shared that she was kidnapped by some unknown youth and sexually assaulted while she was in the unconscious state before the miscreants concealed her inside a hut of a fish farm located at Mekola, the IO submitted.
In the complaint it was also mentioned that the victim luckily escaped from the fish farm by taking advantage of the darkness and drunken state of those miscreants, the IO added.
The IO also stated that during the course of the investigation it came to light that the victim was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by accused Sanjoy.
The Court after hearing the submission of the IO and on perusal of the case record granted judicial remand for smooth investigation of the case.
