Imphal, October 20 2013: Singjamei Block Mahila Congress Committee today organised a workshop cum mass enrolment drive at the residence of PHED Minister I Hemochandra, who is also an MLA from the Constituency.

I Hemochandra and Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee President RK Ranisana attended the function as chief guest and president respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, I Hemochandra said that the number of women educationists has increased considerably in the State.

As such, it is not the time to restrict them within the confines of houses, he added.

The Minister also observed that Manipuri women must be allowed by their parents to try their hand in politics as well instead of insisting them to look for Government jobs alone.

I Hemochandra further said that Manipur would become a developed State when Manipuri women take active part in State administration by joining politics.

Saying that Congress is the most disciplined political party in the country, Hemochandra said that it is the reason why the party could rule the country for long.

He also appealed to the people of the State to strengthen Congress by joining the party.

RK Ranisana while speaking at the function said that Congress Government has taken up many welfare schemes which other parties could only promise.

Mentioning the need for understanding the flagship programmes being implemented by the Government, Ranisana also appealed to the people to get the benefits fully.

Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee President RK Ranisanaalso stressed on the need to take part in law making process of the country by women.

Around 100 women enrolled in today's drive.
