School kids hurt in road mishap

Imphal, February 18 2020:
At least seven people, including three school students, were injured after a Pulsar motorcycle collided with a school van near Yaingangpokpi Awang Leikai Wumhon village today.
According to a source, a school van carrying students of Wumhon Upper Primary School was coming towards the school when it collided with the bike which had three individuals on board.
The source informed that as a result of the accident, all three individuals onboard the bike identified as Yaomeiying of Thawai village, Ngachan s/o Robinson and Ngathipam s/o Shionreingam of the same locality, the van driver Robin s/o Reisangmy (Laikot village) and three students aboard the van, RK John (10), RK Shingtheiland (3) and Tantor (12) sustained injuries and had to be rushed to Yaingangpokpi PHC for treatment.
They were later referred to various hospitals in Imphal for further treatment, the source added.
Person involved in hit and run case arrested : A team of Singjamei police, today, arrested an individual allegedly involved in the hit and run case which occurred at Canchipur on February 12 .
The arrested individual has been identified as Sorokhaibam Salenshatpa alias Nanao(26) s/o S Prameshor (60) of Lilong Chajing Bazar.
He had been on the run following the incident, before he was finally arrested from his residence at around 2 pm today.
The vehicle involved in the accident, a sparrow brown Tata Tiago was also seized by the police team.
It may be mentioned that on the fateful day, February 12, late Gurumayum Kirankumar Shatma (26) of Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong was run over by the speeding car at around 11.30 pm at Canchipur area, under Singjamei PS .
