Traffic signal to wait for little more

Even as all the Traffic Signal Light System in the state is remaining defunct for the last many months, process for installation of some more traffic light system at road junctions is underway.
So, in all likelihood, commuters, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, have to content with the traffic police on the roads of Imphal for quite some time.
The Traffic Signal Light System in the state was started on trial basis in some road junctions of Imphal city by the beginning of this year.
However, by May, all the traffic signal light system has remained dimmed.
The locations where the traffic signal light system were installed on trial basis include North AOC crossing, roundabout of Governor's Road Crossing, Keishampat Junction, roundabout of western Kangla Gate, Babupara and Khuyathong crossing.
In addition to the existing traffic light system, new installations have also been made at Singjamei Chingamakhong and Kwakeithel.
While the installation of traffic light post and signal light-board has been completed at Chingamakhong, the process is still underway at Kwakeithel.
Interacting with Hueiyen Lanpao, an official of Transport Department explained that installation of traffic signal light system is being taken up by the PWD under the supervision of Municipal Housing Urban Development (MAHUD) department.
The maintenance part of the traffic signal light system will be taken care of by the Transport Department.
