Drivers demand salary hike

All Manipur Government Drivers and Technicians' Association has raised the demand for provision of monthly salary on par with the pay scale of senior and selection grade employees of the state government.
The demand for hiking the salary scale was among several other decisions adopted at the 37th annual general body meeting of the Association held today at the directorate of Agriculture's training hall.
The other demands include promotion of second drivers/vehicle cleaners to the rank of driver; central Government pay scale to the drivers; provision of uniform, currently provided to drivers of Secretariat, to drivers of other departments as well; regularisation of service of casual, master-roll and work charged drivers; and appointment of mechanical supervisor in every department.
The annual meeting also approved appointment of S Ibochouba as the Association's acting president for a one year term.
