Lamka, April 07 2012:
The All Lamka Taxi Owners Society has denied the charges leveled against them by the proscribed KCP (MC) Nongdrenkhomba group over the burning down of a passenger bus wherein two handymen were killed.
Questioning the basis of the allegation, an ALTOS's statement issued today said, 'we were suspecting that the incident was orchestrated by the federation (All Manipur Bus Owners Federation) leaders in league with the KCP (MC) Nongdrenkhomba group with an attempt to malign our image' .
While we are ready to extend all possible cooperation so as to book the culprits and punish them, we take a serious view of such wild accusation said the statement, adding that it appreciated the KCP intervention but feels that it was bias and meant to serve vested interest.
The accusation was made without taking our side of the story, maintained the statement signed by Rangpu Koireng and N Ibomcha Singh, ALTOS's Chairman and Secretary.
It also negated the charges that the burning down of the passenger bus was the handiwork of ALTOS in nexus with some hill based UG.
'We have never sought any help from UG either from hills or valleys.
If they are really clear about the way we have links, then let them show of in full public gaze.
Instead they are the one who use UG elements,' it further asserted.
The manner of KCP's intervention and the way the issue was blown has a very dangerous tendency of communalizing the issue and they are still fanning, alleged the statement.
Meanwhile, a separate memo of the society plead on the Chief Minister to allot them a permanent parking at Nityapat Chuthek before April 12, and resolve the issue between them and the bus owners for once and for all, besides denying any hand in charring a bus that also kills two.
