Imphal, February 03 2013 :
Demanding re-institution of Special Intelligence Unit (SIU) of Imphal West district, which had been abolished four days after seizure of a huge consignment of Pseudoephedrine tablets worth 1.4 crores of rupees from Tulihal Airport, Imphal on January 11 last, and also to reveal the owner of the seized drug, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) and Coalition Against Drug and Alcohol (CADA) are all set to launch intense agitation.
Addressing media persons in this connection at the office of AMADA here today, Arambam Robindro, President CADA, stated that the owner of the drug consignment seized by SIU team under the leadership of OC K Ranjit should be made known to the public at the earliest and be given befitting punishment.
He also stated that SIU should be re-instituted along with the revocation of the transfer order of OC K Ranjit.
Highlighting these demands, AMADA and CADA have also already submitted a memorandum jointly to the concerned authorities.
However, instead of revealing the truth, the State Government has put the charge to one Md Razaudin of Lilong.
This is very unfortunate, he said.
The attempt being made by the State Government to put the blame on others to hide the real culprit clearly indicates that the State Government and its officials are into drug smuggling, he observed.
Padmini Leima, President, AMADA was also present on the occasion.
