Imphal, October 15 2008:
Atleast five activists of Kangleipak Communist Party, Military Council (KCP-MC) have been arrested by the Imphal West Police Commandos on Tuesday at about 3: 10 p.m., according to a press release issued by L Kailun, the Superintendent of Police, Imphal West district.
Acting on the reliable information the Police commandos carried out a search operation in the suspected area.
Initially two KCP (MC) activists were arrested, however on being interrogated, the two arrested cadres disclosed further informations following which three more underground activists of the same outfit were arrested from Langjing bazaar, according to the press release of the police.
The police source said that the first two militants have been identified as Sanjenbam Herojit Singh alias Nungshibi alias Nisombi (23), S/o S.Babudhon Singh of Hourang Khunou.
Leimakhujam Labango Singh alias Kangleicha alias Dev (25), S/o L.Kokolo of Haorang Keirel Mayai Leikai.
The two arrested cadres disclosed that they had joined KCP(MC) in the month of June,2008 through one Kiran Singh of Phumlou and working in the finance section under his command.
They were assigned to extort money from the general public for the party fund, according to the police.
The remaining three underground activists have been identified as Angom Rupolata Devi alias Bebe alias Priti (24), D/o (L) Shanti Singh of Haobam Marak Lourembam Leikai, Maimom (N) Leitongbam (O) Thoibi alias Shandhya Devi (27) W/o L.Thembung of Yairipok Anghtha a/p Khurai Chaithabi and Thokchom Sema Devi alias Bebe (24), D/o (L) Indrakumarr of Uripok Laikhurembi.
As per the police source, these three militants had joined KCP (MC) in the month of September, 2008 through one Labango alias Kangleicha alias Deva of Haorang Keirel.
They were assigned to transport arms and ammunition from place to place, stated kailun in the press release.
