Imphal, December 02:
The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, in a memorandum, has appealed to the Chief Minister to do away with the practice of frequent transfer of Ukhrul district Deputy Commissioner.
It observed that such frequent transfer of district officers greatly hampered and affected district administration and development.
It further appealed to the Chief Minister to pay attention to the pathetic road condition of Ukhrul.
Noting that it would not be a healthy practice to transfer administrative officers more often than not, the headman of Hunphun/Ukhrul village HA Saramaya has also requested the State Government to drop the proposed plan for transfer of Ukhrul DC.
Another memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister reminded that the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul district has been changed as many as nine times since 2001.Saying that frequent transfer of administrative officers was not in the interest of people, it asserted that proposed plan for transfer of Ukhrul DC Pankaj Kumar Pal was not warranted by any rational administrative logic.
It further noted that the present DC has been implementing various centrally sponsored welfare programmes and pursued to the satisfaction of the people even though he has been in the district for hardly one year.
Observing that his transfer at this juncture would be premature and go against people's interest, the memorandum appealed to the Chief Minister to drop plan for transfer of Ukhrul DC.
