Four figure mark breached with 1007 testing positive

Manipur struck a new high with as many as 1,007 positive cases detected in the last 24 hours while another 15 succumbed to the virus during the same period of time.
The record 1,007 cases were detected while testing a total of 4,900 samples in the last 24 hours, said a Covid status report of the Government.
According to the report, 20.55 percent of the total samples in the last 24 hours tested positive for COVID-19 .
The State has so far tested 7,06,385 samples.
Notably, the State on May 26 had reported 847 new cases which was then the highest single day spike.
The total number of Covid positive cases has reached 45,098 while the number of active cases is 8,030 .
According to Government COVID-19 Common Control Room, the death toll has touched 776 .
(This is excluding the deaths of a 7-year-old girl from Imphal West on May 25 and one 40-year-old man from Ukhrul on May 26) .
So far 3,75,518 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and a total number of 40,044 people have recovered.
The recovery rate stands at 81.97 per cent.
Significantly, the new high of 1,007 cases came amid the Government's efforts to carry out mass testing and increase vaccination against Covid.
The 1,007 new cases include one personnel of the Central Armed Police Force and 1,006 persons (535 males and 471 females) from the general population, said Government COVID-19 Common Control Room.
With 358 and 237 new cases (of 1,006 cases from general population) respectively, Imphal West and Imphal East districts continued to report the highest number of fresh infections.
Thoubal district reported 98 cases followed by Churachandpur (91), Bishnupur (63), Kakching (63), Tamenglong (37), Pherzawl (12), Kamjong (10), Ukhrul (9), Senapati (8), Tengnoupal (6), Chandel (4), Jiribam (4), Kangpokpi (3) and Noney (3) .
The 100,7 new cases were detected at testing facilities opened at District Hospitals (506), private hospitals (356), JNIMS (80) and RIMS (65) .
Meanwhile, the 15 victims who succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours include two women and 13 men.
Five of them were under 45 years.
Imphal West district reported six casualties while Imphal East reported five.
Thoubal reported two casualties while Bishnupur and Ukhrul reported one case each.
The victims from Imphal West include one 75-year-old woman and five men aged 40, 48, 55, 75 and 77 years.
The victims from Imphal East include a 45-year-old woman and four men aged 35, 50, 57 and 85 years.
The victims from Thoubal were two men aged 40 and 41 while the victims from Bishnupur and Ukhrul were men aged 75 and 54 years respectively.
On the other hand, 564 persons recovered from the disease in the last.
While 451 of them recovered while under home isolation, the remaining have been discharged from Covid Care Centres opened at CAPF (22), Lamboikhongnangkhong (14), BB (13), JNIMS (8), NSU (13), SHRI (10), RIMS (6), Bishnupur (5), Ukhrul (5), Kakching (4), Senapati (4), Tamenglong (4), RD Wing (3), Jivan Hospital (3), Rajmed (2) and Thoubal (2) .
The cumulative number of Covid positive cases is 48,850 (general population-45,098 and Central security personnel-3,752) .
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 40,044 (general population-36,349 and Central security personnel-3,695) .
The number of active cases is 8,030 (general population-7,978 and Central security personnel-52) .
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,355 D-type oxygen cylinders and 651 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different healthcare institutions in the State, said the Covid control room.
