COVID-19 claims 3 more, positive cases cross 16,000
CM convenes meet on Oct 22 to discuss COVID-19 situation, rising cases plus deaths

COVID-19 claimed three more lives in the State during the last 24 hours while the total number of positive cases has crosssed 16,000.Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren has convened a high-level meeting at 11 am on October 22 to discuss the COVID-19 situation.
The meeting which would be held at the Chief Minister's office would be attended by Ministers, members of the COVID-19 State Consultative Committee, representatives of State COVID Task Force, officials of Health Department, DCs of Imphal West, Imphal East and representatives of the People's Task Force on COVID-19 .
According to the press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, two men aged 58 and 79 hailing from Churachandpur and Thoubal respectively died at Shija Hospital even as a 41-year old man from Imphal East died at RIMS during the last 24 hours.
All three of them were COVID-19 positive.
As such, the State's COVID-19 death toll has risen to 121 .
In the meantime, 284 people including seven personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Mothers care, Christian Hospital, Ascent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Noney, Shija Hospital, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Imphal West, Jiribam, Imphal Hospital, Sielmat, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching, Senapati, Babina Diagnostics, Advance Hospital and Raj Medicity.
The 277 civilians who have been tested positive belong to Imphal West (109), Imphal East (58), Thoubal (14), Ukhrul (3), Jiribam (1), Noney (1), Kangpokpi (9), Kakching (14), Tamenglong (34), Churachandpur (15), Tengnoupal (6), Senapati (1) and Bishnupur (12) .
Except for four belonging to Imphal West, the remaining 273 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, 146 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (2), home isolation (5), JNIMS (5), RIMS (5), Kakching (13), Tamenglong (18), Sadbhavna (2), Lanva (4), CCC UNACCO (39), RD Wing (13), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (20), Ukhrul (4), Kangpokpi (2), Bishnupur (6), Senapati (2) Thoubal (4) and Jiribam (2) .
The cumulative figure of positive cases has reached 16,062 (general population 13,382, Central security personnel 2680).It includes 3882 active cases (general population 3560, Central security personnel 322) and 12,059 discharged cases (general population 9705 and Central security personnel 2354) .
On Tuesday, the recovery rate further declined to 75.07 per cent from the 75.5 pc of yesterday.
According to a late evening report, 14 doctors and two OT technicians of JNIMS were tested positive for the virus.
