Covid active cases drop below 200

The total number of Covid-19 active cases in the State has dropped below 200 and there was no report of Covid related death in the State during the last 48 hours (December 16 & 17) .
As such, the death toll remains unchanged at 1993 .
However, 28 persons tested positive during the same period.
According to a bulletin issued by Additional Director (Health) and Covid-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 17 were confirmed positive on December 16 out of 1,391 samples tested for Covid-19 followed by 11 persons on the next day out of 1,403 samples tested which put the daily positivity rates at 1.2 per cent and 0.8 per cent respectively.
The 28 positive cases were confirmed at RIMS (3) and other testing centres (25) .
Those who were tested positive during the last 48 hours are residents of Imphal East (4), Imphal West (17), Bishnupur (2), Chandel (4) and Thoubal (1) .
Following recovery, 34 Covid-19 positive people were discharged during the last 48 hours from home isolation (9), RIMS (3), JNIMS (8) and CCCs (14).Moreover, due to various reasons, 109 persons were reported as discharged cases only today.
As such, the total number of recovered cases is considered as 143 after reconciliation with reports from IDSP team, home isolation team, community home isolation team and hospitalisation team.
As such, the total number of Covid-19 active cases has declined to 198 (general population 197 and Central security personnel 1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,597 (general population 1,21,164 and Central security personnel 4.433) .
It includes 1,23,406 recovered cases (general population 1,18,979 and Central security personnel 4,427) .
The recovery rate as on Friday is 98.26 per cent.
A total of 520 D-type oxygen cylinders and 160 B-type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of the State during the last 48 hours.
Taking into account 4,709 doses administered yesterday, the cumulative number of Covid vaccine doses administered in the State has reached 22,57,849 (first dose 13,08,247 and second dose 9,49,602).Till December 16, 55.88 per cent of the State's total eligible population has been given the first dose of Covid vaccine while 40.56 per cent has received both the first and second doses.
