COVID-19 claims 9 more, 823 test positive

Imphal, June 06 2021: COVID-19 has claimed nine more lives while 823 people including two CAPF personnel were tested positive during the last 24 hours.

This is the second day on the trot that Manipur has reported deaths in single digit.

On June 5 too, the death tally was 9 while earlier the number of deaths was always in two digit.

According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, nine COVID-19 positive persons died at RIMS, JNIMS and Raj Medicity, taking the death toll to 881 .

They belonged to Imphal West (3), Imphal East (4), Kakching (1) and Kangpokpi (1) .

On the other hand, out of 8,773 samples tested during the last 24 hours, 823 positive cases were detected at RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals and other testing centres.

The 821 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (245), Imphal East (192), Thoubal (86), Bishnupur (49), Kakching (69), Ukhrul (12), Churachandpur (71), Chandel (6), Senapati (1), Tamenglong (3), Tengnoupal (14), Kangpokpi (7), Kamjong (9), Jiribam (56) and Noney (1) .

Following recovery, 646 people who were undergoing treatment for COVID-19 have been discharged during the last 24 hours.

478 of them were under home isolation while nine were treated at RIMS, three at JNIMS and 156 at different COVID care facilities.

Three air passengers were tested for COVID-19 at Imphal airport today but no positive case was detected.

So far, 4,910 people have been tested at Imphal airport and 117 were found to be COVID-19 positive.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 55,230 (general population 51,463 and Central security personnel 3,767) .

It includes 9,184 active cases (general population 9,177 and Central security personnel 7) and 45,165 recovered cases (general population 41,410 and Central security personnel 3,755).The recovery rate stands at 81.77 per cent.

In the last 2 hours, a total of 1863 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 549 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the State, said the statement.

Meanwhile, the total number of people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State has reached 4,22,872 as per the latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, added the Addl Director.
