COVID-19 death toll rises to 171

The State's COVID-19 death toll has risen to 171 after three COVID-19 positive persons died during the last 24 hours.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, three males aged 70, 55 and 40 belonging to Imphal West, Thoubal and Imphal East respectively died at JNIMS during the last 24 hours.
In the meantime, 248 people including one personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the contagion at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Asian Hospital, Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, CMC, Little Clinic, Iboyaima Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Advance Hospital, RD Wing, Christian Hospital, Kangpokpi, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Noney, Kakching, Ukhrul and Babina Diagnostics.
Of the 247 civilians who have been tested positive, 86 belong to Imphal West, 77 to Imphal East, 13 to Thoubal, nine to Kangpokpi, one to Noney, one to Ukhrul, 25 to Bishnupur, four to Kakching, two to Senapati, 13 to Churachandpur, 13 to Tamenglong, one to Jiribam and two to Chandel.
None of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, 203 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (97), JNIMS (17), RIMS (14), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (13), CCC UNACCO (14), Lanva (3), Kangpokpi (6), Tamenglong (11), Jiribam (5), Chandel (3), Lamding (2), RD Wing (1), Bishnupur (13), Sadbhavna (3) and Bal Bhavan (1) .
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 18,750 (general population 15990, Central security personnel 2760) .
It includes 3514 active cases (general population 3200, Central security personnel 314) and 15,065 discharged cases (general population 12623, Central security personnel 2442) .
The recovery rate as of Sunday is 80.34 per cent.
A late report informed that 95 samples were found positive out of 254 samples tested today at JNIMS.
At Thoubal, 29 samples were found infected by the virus out of 100 samples subjected to Rapid Antigen Test.
Meanwhile, Centre's COVID-19 Nodal Officer and Ministry of Power Joint Secretary VK Dewangan held a video conference with officials of State's Health Department, JNIMS and RIMS on the State's COVID-19 situation at 11 am today.
Informing that the conference did not take any decision, sources said that another meeting would be held between officials of Health Department and the two members of the Central team who are currently at Imphal to assess the COVID-19 situation at 3 pm tomorrow at the Old Secretariat conference hall.
The meeting would be presided by Advisor to CM (Health) Dr Sapam Ranjan.
Although VK Dewangan who led the Central has already left Imphal, the other two members visited Thoubal and collected a report on the COVID-19 pandemic.
