Moirang College among 12 selected for College Phagathansi Mission

Bishnupur, October 27 2023: Moirang College is one among 12 colleges selected for infrastructural development under the State Government's newly launched College Phagathansi Mission, said Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh.

He was speaking at the launching ceremony of Science Corner and College Students Mentoring Initiative (COSMI) held at Moirang College today.

The event was organised by the Directorate of University and Higher Education Government of Manipur and hosted by Moirang College and Kumbi College.

Speaking on the occasion the Education Minister highlighted the importance of providing proper mentors to students and for students to develop adequate social skills.

Under the Chief Minister's initiative, Moirang College has been selected to receive funding of Rs 2 crore to meet its infrastructural and other developmental goals as part of the College Phagathansi Mission, said Th Basanta.

He also thanked Dr Raghu Ningthoujam, Deputy Director, ISRO for joining the event virtually and imparting many valuable lessons to the students.

Speaking to the gathering, Dr Raghu Ningthoujam gave a virtual presentation and advised the students about various steps they should take to reach their academic goals.

He also informed the gathering about the preparations leading up to the launch of Chandrayaan-3 .

Dr Raghu also professed his desire to learn more about the historic locations associated with Manipur such as Kangla.

Students and other attendees also interacted with the ISRO Deputy Director.

Further, Justice Konjengbam, BSc Physics 5th semester student of Moirang College who is currently conducting research on rockets, also gave a presentation.

Moreover, participating students from different Colleges of the State, namely, South East Manipur College, Pettigrew College, Biramangol College, Manipur College and Ideal Girls College also gave their respective presentations.

Today's event was graced by Th Shanti, MLA Moirang AC, P Shantikumar, Additional Director Higher and Technology Education, Moirang College Principal Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh, Kumbi College Principal Ch Modhumangol and Dr N Ajit, Directorate of Higher Education Officer.
