Imphal, July 14 2017:
As many as 340 calls related to crime against women have been received by Women Helpline '181' Manipur so far .
The 24×7 helpline service operated from the office building of Manipur State Commission for Women at DC Imphal West complex, Lamphelpat was inaugurated by Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen on June 23 last .
Through the helpline service, a total of 23 cases relating to sexual assault and torture have been registered in the police stations concerned .
Maximum number of phone calls came from Imphal West and Imphal East districts.
Staff working in the helpline service submit report to Social Welfare Department from 4 pm to 6 pm daily .
It may be mentioned that four staff of the helpline service, including a female call responder were suspended for not receiving a call made by Chief Minister N Biren recently .
They were replaced by staff of Social Welfare Department.
