Ukhrul, April 24: The noble effort to promote Inter Village Road (IVR) at the remote border areas by IFAD/UDCRM has been finally translated into reality.

The IVR from Zingsui to Chamu village, a road stretch of 45 Kms was inaugurated by Minister of Tribal Development D.D.Thaisii, on 22nd April during a function attended by people of 13 villages of the areas.

Located 122 kms away from the district headquarters under Phungyar Assembly Constituency, Chamu village witnessed a vehicle coming along the road for the very first time.

IFAD/UDCRM has been making dedicated efforts since 2004 towards making the road stretch from Zingsui to Chamu covering over 15 to 17 villages.

Speaking as chief guest of the function, Thaisii said that through there is disparity between the valley and the Hill in terms of development, this should not discourage the villagers as there is rich potential and productiveness in the areas.

He urged the villagers to take the slow progress as a blessing in disguise from God.

He assured the villagers that he will provide every possible assistance from his Dept/Ministry for the development of the area.

The Minister also praised the Project Manager of UDCRM/IFAD and his team for their selfless endeavour towards making the Chamu IVR a success.

Ramrei lamented that despite the Govt having full knowledge of the remoteness of the area, it fails to look after the basic requirement of the villagers for the last many years.

Thaisii is the first ever Minister who visited Chamu village, he added.

Project Manager of UDCRM/IFAD Tychicus Vashum said that since 1999, IFAD has covered 250 Kms under IVR at different points and conveyed his gratitude to the villagers for their support.

Gen secretary of MPCC Wungnaoshang Keishing, who attended the function as a guest of honour assured the villagers of the area that Sahamphung (Humlang) SDC Hqs which was inaugurated way back on March 19, 1982 by his father the former Chief Minister and present MP Rishang Keishing would be made functional and utilized once again for the better administration of these areas.

Before the Minister and his team arrived at the village, Operation Blessing India and Comprehensive health Service & Research Centre organised a free medical camp During the camp, a medical team led by a lady doctor and accompanied by 4 other staffs treated around 370 villagers of Zingsui and Chamu villages.

Tomba, Joint director of Veterinary and Dr.Ngahorshai Luithui and other 3 staff also conducted medical check up and vaccination of cattles including.

Cows, buffalo, pigs, dogs and poultry.

The inauguration of the IVR was also attended by many DLOs and representatives of NPMHR, students organizations, Senapati Dist PCC and Ato Sampu areas.
